Overview / Responsibilities
Wood is looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer - Static to work in Dubai on the engineering and project management services for our project in IraqAccountability:This is a Home Office position based in Dubai, but it may involve occasional visits to the Client offices and/or site in Iraq, Normal working time will be 48 hours per weekReporting to the Engineering Manager the candidate will assume sole responsibility for the project Static mechanical systemsPrimary Role:To lead and manage the mechanical engineering and design of Static equipmentTo have single-point responsibility for all Mechanical Static equipment deliverables and ensure that they conform to all applicable engineering codes and standards as well as the Clients policies and proceduresTo ensure that the overall project is delivered to meet the asset operational needsTo provide direction and guidance on all technical queries relating to process engineeringTo participate in all project safety and design reviews as necessaryTo ensure that all work is completed without compromise to quality and is delivered according to the project scheduleTo liaise with the Clients Engineering, Operations and Maintenance staff as required to ensure a consistent approach to project completionTo promote safe behaviour at all timesPrincipal Responsibilities:To provide sound technical advice and solutions to a diversity of technical problems within the disciplineTo co-ordinate with other disciplines during all stages of design development, construction, pre-commissioning, and start-upTo provide technical support to site in terms of material inspection, Factory Acceptance Testing, etc.To assist in the coordination of all activities related to Static equipment packagesTo identify any areas of concern with respect to progress and/or quality and recommend corrective actions as requiredTo attend weekly progress meetings and generate status reports for the Engineering/Project Manager
Skills / Qualifications
Minimum of 15 years experience in the oil and gas industryMinimum of 6 years proven capability in an engineering design companyAt least 12 months experience of site-based project work involving field engineering, construction, commissioning, operations, or maintenanceDegree in Mechanical Engineering (B.Sc./B.Eng./M.Sc.)Membership of a recognised professional institute preferredExperience of working with multi-national and multi-cultural project teams is strongly preferredPrevious experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantageExperience with Sour Service Operations would be an advantageThorough knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of Static equipment design and analysisThorough awareness of relevant international codes and standardsFamiliar with the typical software packages that are used for Static equipment design and selectionExperience of participation in HAZOP, HAZID and SIL Rating studiesExperience with Concept Selection and FEED studiesExtensive experience with piping design for modular, skid packaged equipment
