Overview / Responsibilities
Detailed knowledge and proven application in all general piping design / layout aspects. Must be conversant in materials of construction, insulation, installed instruments commonly used. Thorough understanding of common equipment and capable of routing all major process and utility piping in accordance with P&IDs and project standards, including the impact of specific service conditions on piping design (e.g. vibration, two-phase slug flow). Experienced in more complex piping systems such as lined and jacketed pipe and impact of material supply and fabrication on piping design. Skilled in pipe support selection and capable of preparing SPS designs. Has developed basic understanding of material management system, stress analysis concepts and of applicable codes and standards.Confident in producing and checking common piping deliverables including; isometrics, piping GA's, tie-in details and plot plans. Undertakes MTO and duties of other disciplines of the Piping and Plant Layout Group when necessary and assists with the preparation of presentation material (e.g. videos, animation, plant views). Proven experience of common CAD systems. Checking of any piping details as required by the project (e.g. steam tracing, steam jacketing, drip legs, equipment trim). Prepares SPS details ready for checking by stress engineer. Assists with timely weekly/monthly progress reporting
Skills / Qualifications
Minimum 7 years of relevant experience or equivalentGained engineering experience in the process plant / or power industry, working in a project environment for a contracting company. Project experience of working in a variety of projects including grassroots, brownfield and revamp types.Sound knowledge of pipe routings and development aspects and phases of plot plans including understanding of other piping design skills such as stress analysis, specifications etc. Experienced in working with large teams.Experienced in using intelligent CAD systems, analysis software, various design codes and standards as applicable for various types of projects.Graduate in Mechanical Engineering (Essential)
