PipeDesign.Com has greatly reduced the price of the PiperSuite program. You can now license a copy of the software for only $29.95 (USD)... 57% off of the normal price!

First of all, let me say that I used to have a copy of PipeData Pro, back when I could afford a copy; however, as of today, PipeData Pro costs roughly 89% more than PiperSuite... $283 vs $30. PiperSuite is metric and imperial. It's a feet-inch calculator, right triangle calculator, circles calculator, fittings calculator (adds up a string of fittings) while automatically calculating socketweld gaps, thread engagements etc.

PiperSuite is a compound rolling offsets calculator, a pipe properties calculator, a pipe span calculator, a structural steel database, a pipe wall thickness calculator and more... PiperSuite even does custom pipe fittings... you create fittings catalogs (special valves, specialty items, etc.) and the FitCalc module within PiperSuite recognizes these and includes them in fittings calculations. PiperSuite keeps a "running", columnar account of what you do and is available for printing. With one seat of PiperSuite you are allowed to install on three simultaneous machines and with PiperSuite... upgrades are always free. The current price of a PipeData Pro upgrade is $113.10 for a single seat. The price of the PiperSuite full installation is $29.95.

PiperSuite has evolved into what it is because users have provided input as to what they'd like to see in a piping calculator and PipeDesign.Com used these ideas to increasingly enhance the program. PiperSuite is used by a variety of engineering organizations around the world both large and small. PiperSuite is very useful for initial 3D model layout and for checking... it's only 30 American dollars for crying out loud! What's not to try?!? I'm a senior piper and I use it every day... I trust it to give me right answers. Thanks for asking about PiperSuite!

Hi bob,

what about dimensions and weights of valaves of difefrent sizes in pipersuite...

does pipesuite inludes all the fittings (specially strainers, type of strainers) dimensions and weights...

does pipersuite give in a partilucar flanged fitting how many botls and nust to be used.. what is going to to be legnth of stud bolts.... and their weights???

the reason i am asking these questions becuase if pipedata pro is very expensive then there is something which it is having and that is not possesed by pipersuite...and so cheap than pipedata pro...

so what's the reason for pipersuite of being so cheap if it can entertain pipingdesigners exactly as pipedata pro entertians.

Thanks

PipeData Pro is a great program; it has more valve and flange dimensions than does PiperSuite. PipeData Pro offers network licensing, whereas PiperSuite does not. And I was wrong about PipeData Pro's upgrade pricing in my previous post. PipeData Pro offers minor upgrades for free. PiperSuite offers ALL upgrades for free... major and minor. PiperSuite is a great program as well; it has more design aids and is actually a "fittings calculator" instead of a fittings database. There are times when a designer encounters a compound rolling offset and does not want to "trim" elbows, but wants to use standard 45 degree LR ells. He or she knows the rise dimension and the offset dimension, but quickly needs the run dimension to satisfy the offset. For this I would choose the PiperSuite program.

Sometimes, before 3D modeling the piping system, a designer needs to quickly know how much space a small-bore control station will take up, the allotted plot space is small and a certain degree of accuracy is required to make a decision. Again, I would turn to PiperSuite for a fast and accurate answer.

Another example... you are out in a tank farm staring at a tank that is 67 meters in diameter. You put your tape measure up to the tank and get an arc length from one tank nozzle to another. In order to calculate the circumferential angle of the nozzle, I would again turn to PiperSuite. With a couple of clicks the answer is in front of you... another tape pull and a couple more clicks and you know how many gallons or barrels that the tank holds... if you know the fluid density, one more click and you have its estimated weight.

Fitting dimension strings are added together in PiperSuite at the same time that they are displayed on the screen, unlike PipeData Pro. Because valve dimensions vary so much from manufacturer to manufacturer... PiperSuite has chosen to make use of its "custom component" feature, allowing designers to write their own custom catalogs to suit specific needs. I believe that PipeData Pro data is all hard-coded into the program and therefore not customizable.

I know that it is a hard decision, Bajwa... may I suggest that if you can afford PipeData Pro... then you can certainly afford both programs. With both, you can be assured that you will have most of what you need to aid your piping design; however I don't believe that either program offers a spell checker... for this you may have to buy yet another program or a dictionary (smiling). Good luck with your decision!
