I need some help on estimation point of view.

To do man hour calculations for Welding, Bolting, Tie-in, Demolition of existing lines etc etc, is there any standard Norms to make the assumptions, like

Eg:
For Shop welding – 1 joint per 3 meters
2.5 man hours for inch dia welding…
50% for Fitter Fabricator, 25% for Welder, 25% for Rigger/Helper

For Field welding – 1 joint per 4 meters
4 man hours for inch dia welding…
50% for Fitter Fabricator, 25% for Welder, 25% for Rigger/Helper

For Field Bolting – 1 bolting per 5 meters
2.5 man hours for inch dia welding…
50% for Fitter Fabricator, 50% for Rigger/Helper

Is there any standard set of norms which I can use to calculate the number of joint, inch dia welding, man hours required for the same.

Please let me know anything related to this…

Regards,

Sabir

Wow Sabir,

You've really come on a long way... Why, just a short month ago you didn't know what a weld-o-let was, and now you're out there pricing jobs!!

Fantastic! Pretty soon you'll be running your own engineering dynasty.

Feel free to drop me a PM if ever you are looking for a good piper....

Or use the jobs forum on here to look for someone who might be able to offer expertise on pricing.

there are several sources of information out there. One very good souce is the Richardson. If you do not know what that is, it is for estimating purposes and very useful

Richardson is a very good source if youre performing an estimate. But you have to purchase several volumes of the manual.

Or you can try Estimator's Piping Man-Hour manual 5th Ed by John S. Page - cost less than the Richardson
