NOw I think that I might have had some itch in my rear when I wrote that post. And I understand what you are saying, you disagree because you are a "field person" you have to do stuff on the spot and dont have the time or luxury to ask the experts. Furthermore to this day I still refuse to be near one of those "hot tapping" stunts you guys do, call me timid if you want.

And I agree, the scope of a piping designer is not just different its broader and by far more interesting than others.

Cheers!

Well, I agree with 11echo.
The piping designer is the one who will be pointed at in the end. They gonna say, you did not checked your foundation size and that happen. ,
they gonna say the pipng designer is responsible also for erection of stupid pumps selected by the client and will run out of thier duty point..
and you just have to agree (while making the official comments that makes you safe and give the calculations which proves your point of view).
and later make the installation and take responsibility of many things you never thought about.
can anybody have a way out of all the above situation, together with the foundation of course, by the way.. I already asked the civil engineer to start pouring the foundation from tomorrow...

Thaaaaaaanks for aaaaaaaallll

Delusional!?? ...Maybe! *G* ...But you have to admit that a designer's job is operating in the middle, between an engineers thought process and a building contractors ability to construct what you put down on paper. Anybody that has worked as a designer knows what happens when something goes wrong! The finger ALWAYS points to the middle first!!! And that is why a designer needs to learn C.Y.A. is very important part to their career longevity!
