Inch DIA was created by sabir
Dear Friends,

What is the difference between 1 inch welding and 1 inch dia welding?

1 inch dia = 1* 3.14 = 3.14 inch. Is this right.

One full welding on a 42'' pipe is 42'' dia welding...is it right.

Thank you,

Regards,

Sabir

sabir ...I'm not real clear as to exactly what your asking here, BUT I'm going to take a stab at answering your question ...as I under stand it.

1" welding is where you’re welding 1" thick material ...like structural plate. It would require multiple welding passes, but all welding is in either a horizontal or vertical plane.

1" dia. welding is where you are welding either 1" dia. pipe or 1" dia. steel bar. This too would require multiple passes, but with the added difficulty of doing these passes in an axel rotation, which on a small diameter would be a real "pain" for the welders ...and is why the welder hate small diameter butt welded fittings.

…My $0.02, good luck!
