Hello,

I’m interested to know if someone could recommend proper project material management software.

We would like to improve our company’s Project Material Management System. We’re looking Project material software for something easy to handle and to understand. It is important that team members can use it after a quick training period and it runs under windows and also the higher management can have daily look at it all reports.

Important features should be:-

1. Stock code Library
2. Material Takeoff / Bill Of Materials / Consumers items / Equipments, etc
3. Tracking changes to the requirements as the design progresses.
4. Generation of inquiries and purchase orders for materials.
5. Material Quotation Evaluations
6. Materials Expediting
7. Material Deliveries
8. Materials Movements
9. Materials Availability Analysis
10. Inventory/Stock control management.
11. Material Traceability & Quality Control
12. Materials Issues
13. Progress monitoring.
14. Material Scheduling
15. Material Procurement Systems
16. Material Procurement Planning
17. Stock Control / Inventory controller Systems
18. Calculate materials costs / budgets, etc

Best regards

Athar Hussain

The only system that even came close to doing all the things you have listed was a "Company" developed proprietary system where I worked years ago.
That company, if they still have the same system would probably not be willing to share it.

Good luck in finding a system that does all the things you listed. It sounds great.

I think SAP..!

The SAP software has all the customisable solutions to meet the requirement..! This software might be costlier but in the long run it will save lots of money on the materials.

www.sap.com

This is just a hint / try to solve the problem.

I was involved in "Fluor" projects and I remember the Material Control people using the many facets of the program. Some of the terminology appears to be different but most of the capabilities were there.

1. Stock code Library (Called the - Item Code Number)
2. Material Takeoff / Bill Of Materials / Consumers items / Equipments, etc (All of these)
3. Tracking changes to the requirements as the design progresses. (called Material History Reports)
4. Generation of inquiries and purchase orders for materials. (Yes - RFQ, RFP, ans Supplements to RFP)
5. Material Quotation Evaluations (This was done more on the return "priced" copy of the RFQ))
6. Materials Expediting (Data from the MM program was used by "Expediting" group to check shipping status)
7. Material Deliveries (Yes)
8. Materials Movements (Yes)
9. Materials Availability Analysis (Yes)
10. Inventory/Stock control management. (Yes)
11. Material Traceability & Quality Control (Not sure on this one)
12. Materials Issues (Yes)
13. Progress monitoring. (This was not a function of this program)
14. Material Scheduling (This was not a function of this program)
15. Material Procurement Systems (is this a repeat of #4?)
16. Material Procurement Planning (?)
17. Stock Control / Inventory controller Systems (Maybe?)
18. Calculate materials costs / budgets, etc (Maybe?)
