Pipe material selection was created by sabir
Anybody can help me with some documents related to pipe material selection….?
For Eg: I want to know what is the difference between CS APL 5L X52 and CS API 5L Gr B.

And again what is this X52 stands for, what is 5L stands for and what are the different grads other than Grad B etc etc.

And what is the percentage of carbon content in different material. What is CS, SS, Duplex...etc and what is Austenite, Ferrite and how is this gonna affect the material section for pipe

Please help

Thank you,

Regards

Ferrite or alpha iron (α-Fe) is a materials science term for iron, or a solid solution with iron as the main constituent, with a body centred cubic crystal structure. It is the component which gives steel and cast iron their magnetic properties, and is the classic example of a ferromagnetic material.

Austenite (or gamma phase iron) is a metallic non-magnetic solid solution of iron and an alloying element. In plain-carbon steel, austenite exists above the critical eutectoid temperature of 1000 K (about 727 °C); other alloys of steel have different eutectoid temperatures. It is named after Sir William Chandler Roberts-Austen (1843-1902). Its face-centred cubic (FCC) structure has more open space than the body-centered cubic structure, allowing it to hold a higher proportion of carbon in solution.

Sabir, Please dont take this the wrong way, but as you are in the Piping / Engineering Industry, have you ever done any form of apprenticeship, or even studied Materials Technology?????
