what should be my first step was created by rockyjohn
I'm a fresh grad of mech'l engr'g and i want to specialized piping. Where should I start because I'm having my self review with piping and I don't know what are the essentials for beginners like me.

To start with, go to the "Training" tab at the top of the home page of this web site. Read every thing there.

Then do the same with the "Tips" and "Tools"

Then come back to the "Technical" forum and start reading all the questions and answers there.

That will be a good start.

Hello Rocky john,

It is a good thing that you have started for self review in piping. Since, you graduated as Mechanical you already have fundamental in engineering which is necessary aid for piping system.

In order to pursue your career in Piping. You must get first hired as on the job training to those company engaged in OG&P industry. There are certain companies who offered training in Piping for the fresh graduate like you to help you grow in your career.

After, securing a job. You will be trained for the basic piping design jobs.

Other essentials to learn more after you get employed:

1. Read forums regarding Piping System from forum there are a lot of experience and professional technical advise you can absorb.
2. Seek technical advice to your seniors on the job.
3. Gather piping related informations (Books, magazines, and you company standard practices.)
4. Familiarized with the Code and Standard practices use in Piping ( Such as ASME, PIP, API, MSS Standard, etc.)

I would suggest read "Tha piping Guide" writed by David R. Sherwood.
