Piping Specs was created by whichwayisup
Am I the only one who hates having to put piping specs together?

Can I propose that you you put aside an area of the website dedicated to piping specifications?

Get pipers to send in specs, generic of course, for different materials and applications, that can be posted up or stuck in to a database, and be made available for reference and plagerism?

Any one got any views on such a system?

Hi whichwayisup,

Specs are something I would be very open to adding to the site, I've thought of it before, but never got moving on it.

I will try to put a bit of thought in to it over the next few weeks, and see how best to approach it.

If anyone would like to contribute to this specification harvesting, I would be grateful, and maybe then we can get it off the ground.

Anton,
How about a generic spec xls form from which users can submit spec info. I am sure there is a ton of different ways that specs are written. This way info can be sorted and extracted in a more organized manner.

Great Idea guys I will be willing to help in any way that I can.

Specs for piping, valves and fittings would depend on the type of industry and the service (typically the criticality of the industry and the service). This means that each industry has to generate its own specs.

I have worked in many different industries and at the moment am with projects dealing with the extraction and refining of vegetable oils. The differences in the specs are quite enormous. Making generalised specs would work only for very commonly used liquids.

However, I think we should make a start!
