Adjustable Base Supports are required because the world is not perfect. You can plan for everything to be the right dimension but there is a thing called "Tolerance" (the plus or minus) in all things.
Think about a suction line to an end suction pump.
- The top of the pump foundation may not be at the exact elevation
- The dimension from the bottom of the pump base plate to the centerline of the suction nozzle may not be the exact dimension.
- The Paving around the pump that the support will rest on may not be at the exact elevation or it settled after pouring.
- A fixed support under the piping would not compensate for all these dimensional inadequacies.
- An adjustable support solves the problem on initial installation and will compensate for any future settlement.
