Below is an example of what is wrong with piping today.

The following is extracted from the actual words from three posts by the same person on one of the more popular piping related forums.

1. Can some one give me some pointers on creating custom elbows that can be used for isogen? I need a 30 degree elbow and can't seem to figure out how to make one. I have tried the _bent>Trimmed elbow command but can't get it. This has to be the first and only problem i have really ran into with CADWorx, and i can't wrap my head around it. Running Plant 2009.

2. Upon further Searching I found info on this forum, using Plines and the RouteBWLR command I can get two trimmed 45 degree elbows with a pup in between, is there anyway to make it stick as one 30 degree fitting?

3. Solved guys! I figured out the trimmed elbow command, don't know how I didn't earlier.

So you ask, what do I think is wrong with this?
1. No matter which engineering and design software you are using you are actually performing a “Drafting” function. So, I feel that no person should be allowed near a computer design system unless and until they have completed some reasonable level of training in “Drafting”.
2. It does not take two 45 degree elbows to make one 30 degree elbow.
3. You do not need a “Pup” piece between two fittings (unless you are required by the situation to have a specific distance between the changes in direction).

SO I guess I have to ask, where do you see the problem? …The “kid” that is trying to do the design without proper training? …The engineering company that “thinks” what this kid does is “good enough”? …OR the client company that thinks this “cheaper engineering” is a GREAT economic move?

Let's look at it from another perspective.

A person (the kid) claims to be a Medical Doctor. He did not go to a real medical school and has faked his cv (resume) to get a job as a Surgeon at a local hospital.

The Hospital (the engineering company) did not look in to the background of this "new" Doctor or did not care if he was properly trained or not.

You are the patient (the client) who needs a very complex and serious operation, but you do not check-out the credentials of the surgeon who will be doing the operation. You take the word of the hospital.

Now, you might get lucky and survive the operation. Or you might die on the operating table due to the incompetence of the "Untrained" Doctor.

Now "where do you see the problem?"

Well under your scenario I guess you would stand all three “groups” in a circle and tell everyone to point to right for the person to blame! Under the initial operation or function of that scenario I could see that it might happen. HOWEVER at some point SOMEONE has to say “HEY this is not good”! I guess my contention is that no one in control seems to have that knowledge (able to recognize good work) these days and has not raised the red flag!?? …So the problem is perpetuated. …My $0.02
