Hi all,

I have been asked to look into turning the “Local Piping Issues” section of the forum into something a bit more akin to a “Local Piping Communities”.

So, with this in mind, I have some thoughts on the matter, and I would like to hear some of you feedback on the matter.

My thoughts:

• Each local community should be viewable by members of that community only.
• Each local community should have a moderator (Community Representative) …… volunteers welcome to apply!!
• Community Representative will be responsible for accepting people to the community.
• Community Representative will be responsible for resolving disputes / issues on the community forum.
• If your geographical location is not listed, tell me, and I can add it.
• The local communities will be for pipers only, no agents etc.

A local, closed community should enable pipers in various locations to pass on local knowledge, information etc, that is only of interest to that community.
The initial communities will initially be grouped by country, but if there is a need to break it down further, this may be accommodated.

Before I get the ball rolling on this, I would like to get your thoughts on it.
If you would like to serve as a Community Representative for your location, please let me know.

It appears to me this would isolate people from getting input that would have great value and prevent some segment from doing things "different" and/or "wrong".

Also, in today's global economy and virtual workplace environment there is a strong need to have operational consistence across all piping communities where joint venture mega-projects are probable.

Jop,

Point taken, and maybe I didn't explain the direction this might take fully, and I do share your concerns about isolating people from getting input.

I would not like to see these local communities take over from the main boards in terms of technical content. I would think that these should be used for the more social side of things, meetings, gatherings, Christmas parties and general items of interest that are only related to a particular geographical area.

Moderators would need to oversee the content, and redirect technical questions and requests to the main Topics, such as "The Technical Forum" etc.

This is very much exploratory at the moment, so just trying to gauge reaction.
