Hey Guys, here’s a crazy question. I have a 10″ header connecting into a drum. The flow is from the header into the drum. The nozzle at the drum is 10″-300#. The 10″ piping connecting to the nozzle is 150# spec. All the lines connecting into the 10″ header are 150# spec with 150# block valves at the header. Here’s were I’m really confused………..the flanges at the end of the header (flange + blind) are 300#. The 150# spec were using doesn’t even list 300# flanges in it as an option. I’ve talked……argued with process that these should be 150# flanges or should this actually be a 300# header. They would not budge nor would they give me a reason. The PM says give them what they want…..he’s a yes man. I know these dumbasses are wrong and are going to have a light bulb moment 2 minutes before it goes IFC. Please someone help me understand why they would do this and prove me wrong for my own piece of mind.
