    Hello

New here and not much experience in piping. As such have a couple simple questions I’m hoping someone can help me with:

Setup: designing a high pressure manhole for a water pipe. Pressure is around 820 psi, temp range from 0-15C. Using a Class 400 , 24″ weld neck flange mated to a Class 400 blind flange.

Question1: what is the thickness and material of the gasket?

Question2: For attaching the flange to the a 24″ pipe, what type of weld do I use? A butt weld? Is there a spec that dictates the weld? I’m a bit confused on this and the ASME B31.1 spec doesn’t seem to address it…. I also don’t have access to the b16.5 specification and have not been able to sort out a clear answer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
