There is a bit of a debate in the office at the moment on the use of WN vs SO Flanges.

This is a general debate, and covering non high pressure systems.

The question is ……

As a general rule should we use WN flanges to connect piping to equipment (exchangers, vessels, pumps etc) or are SO flanges just as good?

I’m not giving away my side of the debate just yet, as I would like to see some opinions on it, the guys in here know where I stand, and I’m willing to stand corrected.
