I received the following question by email, and wanted to put it to the forum for input.

    ——————————-

    Good Day Gentlemen,
During my 20 years experience of piping design, I have been taught ( by Lummus) that a piping cross should never be used in refinery piping.
    My Question is simple.
    Is that still true today?
My Instrument department want to use a 2″ cross on a 2 ” stand pipe, firstly to reduce the amount of nozzles on the vessel and secondly to have all the gauges on the same level.
I have refused their request, but I do not have a valid reason
Your Valued input would be appreciated.

    Best Regard
    Xxxxx Xxxxx
