Since raised face flanges have small serrations that can get banged up pretty quickly, it’s good to use something to protect them while welding up a pipe section. The favorite style where I work is the following: https://plus.google.com/photos/114624575754240517598/albums/5873817333940774945
It has offset/staggered ribbing that makes the protector useful for a variety of pipe schedules and also allows for easy removal. We’ve only been able to get them from pipe sections that we’ve purchased. And our distributors don’t seem to know where they come from! Can anyone point me to where I can get this cover? (I’ve seen a ton on the web with continuous ribs – those won’t be nearly as useful, sadly).
