Plant Layout Fundamentals – Mining & Metals is an introduction to the business of designing a metal ore processing plant – from ore source to finished products. Specifically, it will provide a general understanding of ore processing circuits, how the major processing equipment is arranged within buildings, and the relative location of these buildings on a site layout of a typical large-scale copper processing plant.
The course focuses on conceptually designing the layout of the plant: the arrangement of all the major equipment while considering safety, cost, operation and maintenance requirements and the location of associated buildings and structures on the overall site. The course will also emphasize the importance of the Plant Layout Lead Designer – a key role at any mining and metals engineering consulting company.
The course is geared towards individuals who are interested in entering the mining and metals design-engineering industry, as well as experienced professionals who have specialized in other engineering disciplines, such as Process, Mechanical, Structural, Civil and Electrical engineering, who wish to obtain a better understanding of how the entire processing plant works and how the design is conceived.
