The expansion loops are used frequently in piping design to absorb the stress caused by expansion and contraction due to temperature changes. I notice that most of the expansion loops are in horizontal plane.
The Piping Handbook by Mohinder Nayyar also stated that vertical loops to be avoided. Would anyone explain the reason behind this ?
