Hi,
The question here is more related to maintenance side of work i think.
Are orifices flow meter and Rotameters require permanent platform to be provided?
What kind of maintenance activities are expected to be taken place?
Thank you.
Ajak,
Your questions:
1. Do orifices flow meter and Rotometers require permanent platform to be provided?
Answer: No, platforms are not normally a mandatory requirement. However a Client may have a different opinion for their specific Plant.
2. What kind of maintenance activities are expected to be taken place?
Answer: (a) Removal /replacement of the total unit. (b) Re-calibration of the electronics. (c) Cleaning or removal of an obstruction inside the flow path. (d) Any other undefined issue.
A common take on this is dependent on the location of orifice flanges etc e.g. I have seen standards stating that no permanent access required up to 4 metres from grade if clearance available so scaffold can be erected which in my book makes sense as you do not want to be erecting scaffold on a platform.
