I’m not yanking your chain. They are very serious about making this system and pigging 2″ lines. I have also done some research and they do make pigs that small. The Idea is to have 10 tanks all with a dedicated line going to a manifold A at the end of the tank farm. From there they want to use hoses to connect to the manifold B that is attached to the reactors and blenders. Since none of these products can mix because of contamination issues, we will pig the lines going from the manifold B to the reactor. If tank 5 fills one reactor with a product, it goes through its cycle and produces a product that goes in tank 6. Since these cannot mix after they are done in the reactor we have to pig the line so we don’t throw the batch off. Sorry for the late reply I’ve been very busy trying to understand their concept and fix their ideas. ( piping designers job= making engineers dreams come true.)
Thanks for all the input,
Joe

As far as how often they just said maybe 4 times a day. Thank you for the info so far, I was kinda thrown in the pit and I’m trying to learn as fast as possible

It then goes to a manifold. Thats where they come together and share a line. That line has to be pigged because you cannot mix these products, it has to be like a new line each time. If I branch off the main part of the line and go to a reactor with one product how do I get the pig to clean it properly. I don’t know, I’m not sure I can even explain their idea properly. I think they should quit being tight wads and just run a seperate line from each tank.
It won’t let me put a pdf on here.

April 14, 2009 at 12:48 am #2231joe rocketParticipantThanks Guys. Still not sure what I want to do. Its not my company asking its the company I’ve been helping out. They are constantly asking me to learn and do things on my own time. I know its my job to make our company look good but at the same time I don’t like to feel like I’m getting cheated somehow. I’m doing all this extra for them and what are they doing for me? Keeping me at a place thats real far from home with a screwed up database and below average co-workers. Its hard to go the extra mile with these people for nothing.

February 24, 2009 at 6:15 pm #2154joe rocketParticipantAlright well thanks guys for your input. It turns out so far that these symbols are supposed to be CV conservation vents. They still have a problem with their numbering system though. I guess what was confusing me the most was that they don’t follow a standard so it makes it really hard to compare with other drawings. Right now I’m making them pick one way of doing things and then i’ll change everything to match. ARUGH! it suprises me the multi million dollar companies can run so unorganized. Once again thaks for your input.

October 15, 2008 at 5:42 pm #1962joe rocketParticipantTHANK YOU VERY MUCH. THATS PRETTY MUCH HOW I ENDED UP CALLING IT OUT AND SAID (TBE) EVEN THOUGH I’M NOT SURE IF BOTH ENDS HAVE THE SAME THREADING? I’M SURE SOMEONE DOWN THE LINE WILL CORRECT IT IF NEED BE. I’M KINDA JUST GOING OFF PICTURES SO THERES NOT MUCH I CAN DO.
