Great entertainment.
3″ x 2″ reducer may be defined as SCH XS only as i dont see any problem for welding of SCh XS 2″ end of the reducer with SCH STD pipe. Refer to ASME B16.25 and you can get the answer.
I said i need to talk to some senior guy who has got good experience. Let me find one and i will post the answer.
No need to scratch head and waste time doing NVAs.
But even the purchases decsription which go to vendor specify only one schedule. Pipeclass doesn’t go to vendor but purchse descriprion goes and it specifies only one schedule. I think let me find out some logical reason from some senior guys and may be if i get convinced i will post it in the forum

I have seen it in many specs. If we dont know the thing then we should not assume that its not there.
What i understand is we can specify any schedule to any material pipeand fittings as long as it is easily available in market. It doesn’t matter whether it follows a perticular standard or not. Many countries have there own systems and may have different practices too.
I am talking about a common practise followed in many companies. They dont specify both the scedules. I am not clear what is the philosophy behind that. May be they are ensuring that thickness difference is within limits specified by B16.25
Not crystal clear yet. Does anybody know why?
But we use non S schedules as per B16.10 for SS pipes. Why cant we use B36.19 S schedules for CS?
Using SS316 valve may be a good option
