I think it’s to do with the support files that are loaded at AutoCAD startup. Go into autocad and under tools/options/files/support file search path, remove the bentley support paths. Make a note of the ones you remove because if it doesn’t work you can always add them again later.

Is that a valid email address as I keep getting my email returned.
September 5, 2008 at 11:30 am #1924newnesyParticipantThanks, that’s cleared it up.
The main reason I was asking is that I am running a new 6″ line into an existing 14″ gate valve attached to a tank nozzle. The p&id shows a ROSOV (remotely operated shut off valve) then the check valve, reducer and then the 14″ gate valve. Why is the check valve not before the ROSOV? Is the ROSOV not classed as a block valve?

December 8, 2006 at 5:43 pm #1023newnesyParticipantJust to update………I’ve got the job and I start on Monday as a Limited Company. Can anyone advise what equipment etc I’d be expected to bring with me and any reference books I may need too. I’ve heard that ‘The Piping Guide’ is a good one but if anyone knows anything better I’d be interested.
Thanks

I’ve PM’d you regarding the drawings I’ve done but I don’t know how to attach them so you can have a look at them before tomorrows interview.
November 29, 2006 at 7:20 pm #1009newnesyParticipantThanks J, I’ll put something together and PM you with it if that’s OK.
November 29, 2006 at 6:47 pm #1007newnesyParticipantJ Thanks for taking the time to reply.
Would I need piping sofware to do this or should I just use autoCAD 2007 which I’ve got. When you say mock up do I need to produce plans and elevations and then produce iso’s from these?
November 28, 2006 at 4:43 pm #1004newnesyParticipantJust to update………….I’ve now got an interview on Monday 4th December for a contract vacancy asking for mechanical/piping experience. Can any of you experienced piping people give me some ideas as to the types of questions I might face or specific things I would need to know so I could read up on them. As I posted before, I am from a piping background in the petrochem industry (pipe fitter) and have been draughting for the last 14 years but not in that field. I’m desperate to get into this line of work and put my experience in piping and CAD together if possible. I want to make a good impression in the interview and not come across as a novice. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.
November 8, 2006 at 1:20 am #979newnesyParticipantThanks for the replies, I’ll try some of the suggestions. I know there seem to be a lot more opportunities in Scotland and I’m prepared to work away from home. I also forgot to mention that I have a HNC in Mechanical Engineering and I’m 4/5 through an Open University degree which I hope will come in handy. I’ve read a few vacancies on various job sites but the job descriptions are vague and I don’t want to put myself forward for something that I can’t do yet.
Jop, I’ve just checked the Desurvey website and they are literally on my doorstep so I’ll be contacting them tomorrow, thanks.
