Weld Branch Pipe Onto 90 deg Elbow was created by areson
I've receive a drawing from my supplier that have branch pipe weld onto 90 deg elbow. The elbow size is 12" and the branch pipe size is 2" and be welded about 3" from centerline of the elbow.
Is it this type of branch is allowable or acceptable by piping standard.?
As I know, we can use elbowlet for branching from elbow but we need to weld it at the centerline of the elbow.

It is possible you have not gotten an answer to your question because you did not furnish any technical data with which to evaluate your problem.

Data such as:
- The design code for the project (i.e.: ASME B31.3, or other?)
- The commodity
- The maximum operating pressure
- The maximum operating temperature
- The wall schedule of the ELL
- The kind of system that this ELL is in (Pump Suction?, PSV Tail Pipe?)
- A description of where this ELL is in the system
- The purpose of the 2" branch

I hope it is not too late to help you.
