I'm a fairly seasoned piping designer in Canada. I've been in the engineering business for 17 years. I don't pretend to know everything or anything but, have been lucky enough to leave all my jobs with open offers to come back and great references. Its nice to feel wanted.
Most of my career has been in Alberta doing greenfield oil and gas facilities, SAGD and oil sands projects. I left Alberta a few years ago to head home to the Canadian east coast to be by the ocean. I guess they term us first time retirees. On my way home I've made stops in Denver, Colorado and Sarnia, Ontario where my work it seems has shifted to Brownfield refinery and gas plant revamp work. Problem is I find this type of work relatively boring. To be truthful I'm finding my experience has grown to a point where I'm not feeling challenged anymore. I need to start thinking about taking some sort of a different path. I'm just confused where to start. I want my pay cheque to continue to move forward as well.
I need help with any serious ideas where an experienced piper can take his career and continue to move forward getting a good pay, taking on new challenges and responsibilities. Any serious ideas would be much appreciated.
This is a great book I have it in my collection. I am in the piping design now 14 years and this book made me take a different approach to things in day to day piping design.
