We are hoping to get the first course up and running in Dublin in October 2008.
The course will be limited to 8 people, and will run over 5 consecutive days.
We will operate on a first come - first served basis.

There will be a waiting list in operation, so we will be planning for the next course as soon as the first one is filled.

Course will run as often as required, initially in Dublin, but as soon as we generate enough names in Cork, we will set one up there.

This has been mooted in the past, but this time we have hooked up with Intergraph here in Ireland in order to make this happen on an effective and cost aware basis.

Remember all course fees are tax deductible, and pipingdesigners.com will be providing reciepts / invoices for tax purposes.

About this course?
PDS 3D Equipment & Piping Design

This is a 5 day course and will be held in Dublin and/or Cork.

The main capabilities of the PDS Equipment Modeling and Piping Design Task are addressed including equipment modeling using three-dimensional "building blocks" and interactive piping layout, line routing and automatic component placement. The student learns how to view the model, to use other engineering models as reference data, to review piping attributes and to modify and reconstruct the piping model. The student is introduced to the interaction between the job specification and the piping software.

This course is designed for Piping Designers, Piping Engineers, System Programmers, and System Managers who design and layout the piping of a plant and/or are involved with the installation and maintenance of PDS software.

Previous CAD experience, preferably MicroStation, particularly an understanding of 3D space. Experience in equipment layout/piping design/draughting.

Major topics covered:

* Equipment modelling:
o Building Equipment from 3D primitives
o Building Equipment from parametrics
o Equipment modification/manipulation
o Data review/revision
o Nozzle manipulation

* Piping Design:
o Centreline routing and creation
o Pipe & component placement
o Model revision and reconstruction
o Speciality item placement
o Pipe support placement
o Data review/revision

* SmartSketch - basic 2D CAD drawings (2 days)
* SmartPlant P&ID – engineering process schematics (2 days)
* SmartPlant Electrical – electrical distribution network designs (3 days)

* PDS 2D – process & instrumentation data & drawings (4 days)
* PDS 3D – modelling of all plant engineering disciplines (varies, starts at 4 days)

A quick update on the PDS training course.

We are still working with Intergraph to provide PDS training in Ireland.
This may still be a few months away, but we are progressing a path forward.

There is quite a bit of interest at the moment, so we have no doubt that it will happen.

We will update you over the coming weeks with our status and hope to provide courses in the every near future.

Hi all,

Another update PDS Piping & Equipment training course.
We are now very near to setting a date and price for the training course.

The dates we have in mind are either:
Monday 13th October 2008- Friday 17th October 2008
or
Monday 20th October 2008 - Friday 24th October 2008.

The price will now depend on the number of people confirmed for the course.
I anticipate that the cost will be between Euro 1800 & Euro 2200 for the 5 day course.

We require a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 8 (per course) candidates to make this possible, and the more we have the cheaper it will be.
- The fee will cover all training, equipment, training materials and certificates.
- Refreshments and lunch for 5 days.
- Training will be be done by an Intergraph PDS trainer and will be certified by Intergraph.
- Location: Dublin (Venue T.B.C.) Likely to be near Dublin Airport - Access from M50 and M1

What we now require is an idea of how many people are still interested, and whether the dates above suit them.
