I am using a stop check valve (straight pattern) in 4" line, can it be install in vertical direction

1. What is the direction of flow in the line?
- If the flow is down than my answer is NO! you cannot do that
- If the flow is up then my answer is maybe.

2. You must ask the manufacturer (maker) if the check valve listed in your Material Specifications will re-seat (close) if installed in the the vertical/flow up position?

"In-Line" stop check valves can NOT be positioned in the vertical( www.ladishvalves.com/Portals/203 ... %20iom.pdf . ...look @ page 3 left side, half way down above red caution box). They do make right angle stop-checks that are positioned on the top of a vertical run of pipe and work properly. ALSO note the stop-checks work best in "clean" commodities!!! ...Good Luck!
