Wall tchickness of Branch vs Header was created by Sachin
Wall thickness / schedule for Branch should be higher than that of Header.

Your statement would be true if:
Run = 6"(150mm) Sch 80
Branch = 3/4" (20mm) Sch 160 Nipple for a drain or vent
Your statement would not be true if:
Run = 6" Sch 40
Branch = 4" Sch 40
You can have (under the right conditions) the same wall schedule for both the header (run) and the branch in say a cooling water service.
