1. What this tool does Wall Thickness evaluates ASME B31.3 Equation (3a) for straight pipe under internal pressure, from values the user types. The calculation runs in the browser. The plugin does not contain a B36.10 table and it does not call out for one. 2. When to use it Use it when a designer…

1. What this tool does Rack and Process Spans estimates an allowable span from the weight the user builds up and from beam theory. The user enters the outside diameter, wall, corrosion allowance, metal density, modulus, allowable bending stress, contents density, insulation thickness and density, and the end condition. The page reports weight per length,…

1. What this tool does Pipe Diameter finds an inside diameter from continuity, Q = V × A. The user enters a flow in m³/h, L/s, or US gpm, and a velocity range. The minimum inside diameter uses the top of the range. The inside diameter at the bottom of the range is shown as…

What this tool does The Piping Man-Hour Estimator builds the piping engineering and design labour-hour estimate from an agreed scope. You use it to turn defined work into planned hours: the effort to produce the piping deliverables, split by the activities you will actually staff. It sits in a simple control sequence. The scope says…

What this tool does The Piping Estimate Summary is the consolidated view of the piping engineering and design labour-hour estimate. The man-hour estimator is where you develop the hours. This page is where you read them as one picture: the planned labour basis for the work the scope includes. Use that picture before you schedule,…

What this tool does The Control Level Schedule is the piping lead’s working plan for activities and people. It takes the approved labour-hour estimate and spreads those hours across the project calendar, against the piping activities and against the project and client milestones. It is the schedule step in the control sequence. Scope has said…

What this tool does The Physical Progress Calculator records how much of the piping engineering work is physically complete, activity by activity, and rolls that into one progress figure for the job. It is a project-control measure against the approved scope, the approved hours, and the control-level schedule. It answers a different question from timesheets….

What this tool does The Scope of Work is the first piping project-control document. It states what the piping effort includes, and what it does not, so the estimate, the schedule, and every later change have a base case to stand on. A useful scope has four parts, plus the exhibits that show which documents…

What this tool does The Design Change Notice records a change to the approved piping base case, and the labour effect of that change. The base case is the approved scope of work. A change is anything that moves that scope, the estimate that was built from it, or the schedule that was built from…

What this tool does The Historical Data Log closes the piping control loop. When a project is finished, you record what the piping work actually took, so the next estimate starts from experience instead of from a generic allowance. Each finished project has its own place in the log. The fact the method cares about…
