hi all...i have another question regarding test vent...when usually we provide a test vent on a pipe routing in our design? is test vent only require on a line that need to be hydrotested?
could anyone elaborate a little bit regarding this test vent?
thank you.
regards,
Ajak JB
Generalized questions get generalized answers.
For a Refinery project it is normal to Hydrotest ALL the systems therefore you would normally require Hydrotest vents (and drains) on all lines.
That said there might be some special projects with special systems where introducing water would not be smart. An example might be a Medical facility Project with Oxygen lines.
To add to JOPs comments.
It is my experience, that for every line service, there should be be a piping material spec and also a Testing specification.
This Testing specification should tell you what type of testing will be required for the line in question, eg, hydrostatic, pneumatic etc.
This will give you answers you need as to whether a line requires vents and drains for testing purposes.
