Though it will be dictated by the safety valve vendor, how often the PSV's are maintained on an average cycle of a plant? Once in a month or in 1/4 year or 1/3 year?
This is not really a Piping Design question. It does reflect on Plant Layout in that proper access for PSV maintenance must be provided. However that platforming should be permanent so it does not matter when or how often a PSV is checked or worked on.
Whenever they require a maintenance a temporary scaffolding is enough or does it really require a permanent access provided the PSV on the top of the column which is less than 20m?
It depends on what your Client has approved in the Plant Design Specification.
If they say it is okay then it is okay.
your clients specs should address this issue.....go to psv piping design standards and specifications where you are located...they will determine the following....platforms (permanent or scaffolds), different psv configurations, with bypasses, block valves, double block and bleeds, bleed rings,.....just look in the specs.....
